Do knee socks have the same prophylactic effect as thigh-length stockings?
At the moment there are only few studies on file that have compared the efficacy of below-knee and thigh-length thrombosis prophylaxis stockings. In many cases, these trials are not scientifically relevant, due to the low numbers of study subjects.
However, the latest findings from a study conducted at Charing Cross Hospital in London do show a statistically significant benefit (p < 0.05) of thigh-length anti-embolism stockings over below-knee socks.
